Filling a hole based on a cubic boundary

Hello!

My goal is to fill the hole of a gyroid surface which opens up in several places. I'd like for these complex openings to be filled up to the boundary of a cubic cell, but I'm having problems combining the cubic boundary that I'd like to fill the gyroid surface to and the gyroid itself. I've tried using the auto fill with no luck!

Any ideas on how to approach this? Any ideas would be appreciated!

1. SelectAll (Ctrl+A (Cmd+A on Mac)) of the cube and do Edit/FlipNormals

2. Run EDIT/Separate shells on the cube and discard all objects which cap the outlets of the gyroid object.

3. Activate all remaining objects (press Shift while clicking to activate more than one object) and run EDIT /Combine.

4. Select a pair of open boundaries to join (by double clicking a face at the boundary > only the boundary faces should be orange now) and run Edit/WeldBoundaries...

When I attempt to separate cube shells in part 2, I am told "no multiple
shells found. What could be the problem?

Hard to say from an image. Seems there's a connection between the "patches" of the cube. Can you post the file as a zipped STL as an attachment?
