Advanced Boolean settings for mold

Just making face mold using boolean difference.

How much do the advanced settings matter other than "max quality" and unchecking "auto reduce"?

I don't care about the outside edges so much as just making sure that the features of the person's negative face matches the positive.

Please check out the manual about Booleans

This is a nice explanation of the way MM's booleans work and what the different parameters do.

For a simple planar parting surface as in your case:

It's much easier and robust to use PlaneCut than using BooleanDifference.

  1. SelectAll of the face object and do Edit/FlipNormals
  2. EDIT/Combine face and a cuboid object. This cuboid needs to enclose the face object totally. This make the face a cavity inside the cuboid.
  3. Run EDIT/PlaneCut on the combined object and move the cutting plane to the desired position.
