Unable to make this mesh solid

Hi,

I have scanned the original mesh below . I want to fill in the back to be able to print it . When I use the solid settings it destroys part of the model (see below).
Any idea on how I can do this while preserving the whole model?

Thanks for any advice

In this case MakeSolid's hole filling creates a selfintersection.

You'll need to do it another way:

Option 1 (If you want to get a flat base):

Go to SELECT

> Modify: SelectAll (Ctrl+A)

> Edit:Extrude and set EndType to Flat. Set Offset to some negative value so the planar surface is below.

Option 2 (If you want some wall thickness parallel to the source):

Go to SELECT

> Modify: SelectAll (Ctrl+A)

> Edit:Offset and set Distance to the desired thickness (a negative value too). Make sure Connected is checked.
