smoothing algorithm used

Does anyone know what type of algorithm is used for the meshmixer smoothing operation? Or preferably where I could find that information myself?

Meshmixer was done by the DesignAndFabrication group at AutodeskResearch

Maybe you'll find such info in the publications of the project and the publication of its alumni members.
