Question about insert a Picture in meshmixer

Hello to all,

i have a very special question and i guess meshmixer can't do it - but hope ends at last 🙂

I have a scanned foot object and also a picture of the footbase (2D footprint) .

It would be cool if i could import the footprint picture and assign it to the 3D foot so it would be more easy to sculpt some special areas of the footsole.

Is there a way to do that ?

Thanks 🙂

In the attached, unzipped folder are 3 files giving a textured plane:

ImagePlane.obj

ImagePlane.mtl

ImagePlane.jpg

Keep all files together in one folder.

To replace the checkerboard image you need to resize your image to a square at a resolution of 1024x1024 pixels in jpg format in some image editor software. Name it ImagePlane.jpg and replace the checkerboard image with it.

Now you can import and handle this textured plane as any other object...

Hello Gunther,

thank you for your help.

I first wanted to make a test with the original attached files.

But i think i did something wrong because i don't work as it should...

> I  was unzipping the files and save it together in a common folder.

> Starting Meshmixer and Import the imageplane.obj

> As i understood i should now see a checkerboard but just got  a red square in Meshmixer.

How to make it right ?

Update:

I tried to open imageplane.obj in Meshlab and there i could see the checkerboard.

Maybe i have to change some settings in meshmixer ?

Please check the path to the folder where you stored the three files.

Is there any character not used in English language? Something like ö, ü or ä (in case of German language)?

MM has a problem finding images if there's such a char in the path to the image file and therefor replaces that image by a red one.
