Need help with uniform scaling and making a smooth join

Hello everyone,

I have some vascular geometry that I need to scale and then after scaling, I need to make a smooth connection so that the geometry has no holes. I've attached an image of the geometry I'm using. I've managed to create two face groups and I need to scale up the region in blue by some exact number, say 20%. Also, after scaling, I'll need to join the scaled region (blue) and the unscaled region(brown) with a smooth connection. I can upload the geometry file if necessary. Thanks for the help!

Scaling is not a big deal, just select your blue part and press "Y" to separate it from the rest, then go to the "Edit" menu and use "Transform" (or just hit that "T" key). Scale it to whatever you want.

Your main concern will be the junction between the 2 parts, which is still doable. Once the parts are ready, "Combine" them with "M1" + "CTRL". Manually select a part of each border and use the "Bridge" function. Close the remaining hole with the "Inspector". Smooth that bad boy with the super efficient "ShrinkSmooth" brush under the "Sculpt" menu.

You should have something pretty decent with that, send me your model if you need help.

Thanks! I used the join command after scaling. The bridge command produced some errors, perhaps I'm not using it right. But the join command seems to have done the job. Is the "ShrinkSmooth" command better than "Join"?

Actually, you are right ! The "Join" function is more appropriated for your needs. "Bridge" is useful when you need to join only parts of a border of the model. For your entire border, "Join" is the way to go.

[Optional] Use the brush "ShrinkSmooth" in the "Sculpt" menu to manually smooth the mesh and give it a nice finish. It is not for joining parts, it is a sculpting tool.
