Meshmixer won't generate supports

Hi there.  I've been using Meshmixer for about 5 years now with zero problems.  Today, when I tried to generate supports, nothing happens.  Some sections turn a different color but nothing is generated.  I've downloaded the newest version but still nothing.  I've restarted my computer...nothing.  Help!  I need to print a BeyBlade for a 4th grader by tomorrow!!  🙂

Thanks in advance for the help.

Is the object inside the printer's volume? MM only generates supports for regions inside the printer's workspace.

Thank you!!  Thank you!!  If I upload the object directly from a file, it loads it outside of the printing box (and I could not figure out how to move the object).  But if I upload the object from Tinkercad, then it loads it within the box and I can then generate the supports.  Problem solved.  Thanks again.

Several ways to move an object to the printer's workspace:

  • EDIT/Transform: Move to object manually by dragging the widget's arrows
  • EDIT/Align with Source=BasePoint and Destination= WorldOrigin/Y-up - most slicer softwares set the origin at the printer's centroid
  • ANALYSIS/LayoutPacking arranges objects in the printer volume
