So I have been trying to learn Arnold for a few days now and it is really counter intuitive. No matter what I do to my scene the render will not come out right. I have added lights and all I get is a black screen. I add shaders then my model turns pink. I add an Arnold physical sky and it's not the right shade like the sky was in mental ray no matter how much I edit the attribute settings. I really wish that Autodesk would have kept a mental ray because it got the job done and was user friendly. Or at the very least create a plug in for it for the 2019 version.

Hi @Anonymous,

if you like you can share a sample file here where you have the issue with the black rendering or the shaders. Then we can have a look what the problem in your setup is.

Do you need some learning resources for Arnold?

Best, Nadja

For the lights, you probably need to increase the Intensity or Exposure. Arnold lights always have falloff, so depending on the scale of the scene and the positioning of the lights, they may be too weak.

What shaders are you using? Pink (magenta) means the shader doesn't exist, so it sounds like an unsupported shader. Or does this happen with Standard Surface?
