VDB sequence not rendering

Hi

 

i got a VDB file sequence from Houdini and imported that into maya

 

i used the arnold volume - pointed the file sequence and have set a aivolume material and also a domelight for basic lighting but i get nothing.

 

Not in the viewport and also not with the arnold render view

 

please see video attached

 

any ideas

Neither I have an xp with VDBs, however, have you considered adding padding to the image frame numbers, so there are four digits everywhere? smoke_sim.0022.vdb instead of smoke_sim.22.vdb. Many free utilities to do this task, Rename-It! is just one to mention.

Regarding the display, it should have shown at least the dome light, unless you are looking somewhere faaaaar-off the origin. Enable Grid display, and see if in the viewport Show menu Lights aren't disabled.

If everything fails, post at least one VDB file, from somewhere in the middle of the sequence, so anyone can test in his/her Maya if it works.

here is a single file from the VDB sequence!

 

If someone can test and see if they get something showing up in the render, that would be great!

How did you do the setup if i may ask?

Also do i need bitfrost in other to see something?

Same setup as you did + Arnold's volume shader.. The rest you can see in the image, and keep in mind the number padding for the sequence.
