Trouble connecting default nodes in hypershade

Hello...

Having an issue with Maya 2020 (Mac Version) that may end up to be nothing.  Im trying to simplify my material map by connecting one place2DTexture node with all of the TextureFile nodes I'm using.  In the past in Windows, this has been simple using ctrl-middleClick to drag the node to the connection.  As described here...

https://help.autodesk.com/view/MAYAUL/2020/ENU/?guid=GUID-591E9EB3-7B11-456D-92C2-0A6B470079FC

But with Mac, all I get is the menu to create the links manually.  Easy enough to do, but takes 10 times as long.

Am I missing something or is this a difference in the versions of the program?

Looks like you are right. While using my mac keyboard on my mac I was unable to reproduce the functionality available on windows. However, and this is where it gets weird. Using my windows computer connected to my mac I was able to use control middle drag just fine. So the functionality exists, it's just not bound to any key on a mac keyboard (that I could figure out).

Sadly I don't have a good fix for you so hopefully, someone else jumps in with a proper solution. But in the meantime, so slightly speed up your workflow, you can duplicate with connections an already connected file node. Then you would just have to repath each one. Is this faster... doubtful, but maybe.

Sorry, and goodluck!

On Mac you might try Command + middle mouse drag and keep the Command key pressed until after you release middle mouse on the target node to make the default connections.

Also, the drop zone is the top row of the target node (the top area where the swatch is). Releasing the middle mouse drag on any of the lower connection rows won't make the default connections. One way to simplify this is to collapse all nodes ('1' key shortcut in Hypershade) before making the default connections. When collapsed, the entire portion of the node that is visible is the drop zone.
