Transparent background Arnold

Transparent background Arnold

Hello! Perhaps this has been been answered before, but how does one render a .png or .tif image with its background completely transparent, using Arnold?

I'm relatively new to Arnold and, while using Mental Ray, the issue I'm having was solved by checking in the rendering settings, in the camera section, and then enabling Z-Depth; in which case, the background and whatever is not visibility to the camera, will not be seen and become transparent to the final image. I'm sure it's a simple thing I might have overlooked, but I've searched for a little while now and couldn't find an answer.

Thank you for understanding.

Hi!

Add object, render... the alpha will be created, check in Render View or save image and open with other software.

What's the problem, please add details?

(For Batch Render or Render Sequence: Arnold does not support Transparency in PNG, but Alpha in TIF).

Hey mspeer,

Thanks for getting back to me. I really appreciate it.

I was looking for a image in which the background is transparent upon render, but you've solve my issue with the transparency thing with only rendering through the normal render window, not the Arnold window.. It's good to know that Arnold, through batch render/ render sequence, doesn't give transparent .pngs. Definitely take note of that.

As for the .tif during render sequence, how would you produce the alpha images in addition to the normal colored images? Is there a way to force it to render one set and then the other, or all of them? How might one go about that?

Hi!

1. It doesn't matter if you use Maya Render View or Arnold Render View.

2. Please try it out first and report back if it doesn't work.

There is nothing special to do:

Create Object, Set Image format to "tif", Render Sequence. That's all.

Hi, How do you compile tif format export into premiere pro or any app for transparent backgrounds video?
