Texture file assigned but it looks nothing like how it should in render (Arnold)

I was trying to assign a custom free texture I found on a website, a bare metal floor on a robotic hand, only the Index finger, the rest is a lambert material.

 

After I connected the texture file node to Base Color from aiStandardSurface, in the render it doesn't look all right at all.

I've tried with different texture files but the render always shows a bland colored material with no details.

 

What should I adjust?

did you create any kind of UV layout for your geometry?

I tried to unwrap the mesh but nothing shows up in the UV editor, I think there's a problem with my mesh since every other geo that I create shows up in the UV editor, and the textures do work properly...I aslo tried to export as an obj and import back, but didn't work...

Any suggestions?

Hi!

If there are no UVs, just create some UVs with a default layout for example by using UV -> Automatic.
