Shadow looks bad on Fur

Hi everyone,

I am trying to make a fur ball using the fur presets (not XGEN) and it looks to be working fine, but when I try to render I get a very big shadow in the middle of the ball. I've tried using point lights, directional lights, default lights and none really worked, the one that worked best was a spot light which I created following the guide here: https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/maya/learn-explore/caas/CloudHelp/cloudhelp/2015/ENU/Maya/fil...

Still, even if the render results are pretty good I still don't like the big shadow spot in the middle. Any suggestions? What options should I tweak?

Thanks.

Hi!

Looks like a problem of hair orientation and density.

Do change any of these settings, or change some settings of the hair shader (which might lead to a unrealistic look).
