Rendering With Nvidia GTX 1060 taking an extremely long time

Hello everyone,
I'm new to Maya so I'm kind of an amateur when it comes to this stuff. Anyways, I recently made a scene complete with animation and other meshes, and decided to render it.
The system I'm rendering on is a desktop that has a GPU chip, more specifically the Nvidia GTX 1060. I actually recently installed it (idk if this info has anything to do with the problem, but I thought this would be helpful if it is needed).
Likewise, the animation that I need to render has 140 frames. Unfortunately, the rendering is taking way too much time; for reference, it's only about 20 frames in and I started rendering around 7 hours ago. I also tried rendering with CPU and it's taking the same amount of time. So, I'm thinking the problem lies in my Maya file instead.
I tried to remove some meshes (as there were a lot in my scene before rendering), deleting history, and also tried reducing the sampling and video quality as well, but the same problem is still occurring.
I've provided a screenshot of my scene and have also provided a google drive link containing the .mb file that I'm
having trouble with (I tried attaching it here but it won't let me for some reason). Any help on how to fix this issue would be much, much appreciated! This is actually an assignment for one of my classes that I need soon, so I'm a lil desperate lol. Thank you in advance!!
