Rendering a sequence of Vector images

How do you render a a sequence of Vector images?  If I render using Maya Vector and output as Adobe Illustrator (ai) I get nice clean files that are great for illustrations.  But I have never been able to render more than one at a time.  If you render a sequence, it renders each one and replaces the previous one leaving you with only the last render.

It seems to be ignoring the 'name.#.ext'   None of the other vector formats render a sequence either (.eps, .ai, .svg, etc.). It's not a preferences issue, it is has never worked that I know of since at least 2016.  Perhaps I am doing it wrong? Has anyone ever been able to get this to work?   And don't try it in 2019, it will crash instantly on Maya Vector.

Figured it out. If you render your vectors as a series of files, Render Sequence doesn't work correctly, each file writes over the last frame.  But if you use Batch Render you will correctly get individual files as expected.
