Question about Rendering LCD Screens in Arnold

Hey Everyone,

I'm attempting to create an environment containing LED and LCD screens, but struggling to find the right looking emission. In the attached example, Beeple uses a blackbody emission node in Octane. Is there any equivalent to use within Arnold? Does anyone have a method for making Cyberpunk looking screens?

Thanks!

You can turn an object into a mesh light which is the best way to make things glow.WARLOCK_endsheettest_C.jpghttps://youtu.be/mxoaLL5X-1U

Hey thanks for the reply,

I've watched that whole series, its great -- I used a mesh light, unfortunately I'm not getting much of screen effect. I've attached another reference photo : is the screen effect coming from shading in mtoa or before hand photoshop?

cheers

You are talking about the Moiré effect.    Moiré effect is a visual perception that occurs when viewing a set of lines or dots that is superimposed on another set of lines or dots, where the sets differ in relative size, angle, or spacing. The moiré effect can be seen when looking through ordinary window screens at another screen or background.file-lsIDjbcBdt.pngSo to get this pattern effect you would need to place the image in a grid, test it out and see if it works.

I’ve got grids set up as the weight of my material, and the image of the screen as the color. Maybe It needs an additional glass? I’ll keep farting about. Really appreciate the reply.

You can put the same image as in base color, to the emission tab and the weight value to 1 or less if you want less intensitypedacito pantallas.jpg base weight in 1, specular in 1..y chose no roughness.
