Object moves position when rendered and turns purple

MAYA 2019, on a Mac OS running  Mojave.  A student has a simple object with basic hypershade colors applied.  It has no keyframes, but when the student renders using Maya software the object changes position and turns purple.  I have tried it on a different computer with the same result.  I have deleted by type--history and freeze transformed.  I have keyframed the object to set  its position.  Nothing seems to work.  Can anyone tell me what to look at to fix this.  I have never seen this behavior before.

Hello,

Is it just that one object that is experiencing this behavior?

What type of UV layout does the object in question have? Maybe re-UV the object if possible.

Is the 'object' something that the student created or was it downloaded?

Thank you for your assistance.  I redid the uv on the object, it didn't fix it.  I completely re-shaded the object, I even deleted the object and the phantom object was still there.  I finally went in and deleted the purple colored Blinn and the fix it.  I know his project crashed about a week ago, I am wondering if something happened at the file level at that time.  Thank you for your assistance.

Glad to help, good to hear problem solved. Chalk that up to another little trick we learned.

Have a great day!
