multiple Displacement maps

Hey Folks,

How can i add multiple displacement maps to one polygon-object.

In my case i need to know how it works with two displacement maps. Im trying to figure it out with the layered texture note where i put the different displacement tga files with the alpha channels in seperate textures files color slots additional i connect the tga files with the alpha slots but i doesnt work.

the reason why i need to know it is that i have two regions on my object where i need different diplacement alpha gain/offset values.

thank you

Rick

Try adding a new displacement node to the shader network then connecting it...I don't think you can do it though.

also just so you know, a shader with a layered texture does not render both textures in mental ray...it will only render the primary texture.

i find one way to fix this

so you select the faces of the objectregion you need to have a different displacement map an add a seperate shader and connect the displacement map to this the normal way

That's how I do it...assigning different shaders per face.

I'd like to see a node that uses multiple shaders like the layered texture node.

Hi,

I kind of openning this old discussion, because I have one object and I need to use two displacements, but using two shaders and selecting just the polygons where it should be applied does not work. The shader applies to the whole object and the other one is not used.

It worked in your case?
