Lighting workflow for animated short

Hello,

I am creating a short, and being new to Maya I wanted to know the general process for lighting. I am referencing my animated shots from a master file into separate Maya files, and I was wondering how I would make the lights. Should I be making lights in my master file and tweaking them in the child files? Or do I have to make new lights for each file?(<-- and if so how would I copy the attributes from the previous file to the new file to keep lighting consistent...?) Oh, and I am planning on animating the color of the lights to indicate changes in mood across different scenes.

Any help on this is very much appreciated!

Light is done per shot.

So it does live in the scene file.

Take a look at the RenderSetup tutorials.
