How to put Arnold bloom effect only on select objects?

I am using the LensEffects imager in Arnold, which seems to add bloom to every object in the scene. I only want to add bloom to a few select objects. After hours of messing around with a test scene I was able to get one object to be unaffected by it (while 2 objects were affected), but it crashed soon after and I don't know what made it work. In this tutorial at the 1:30 mark and the 2:40 mark the instructor is able to change the bloom without affecting every object in the scene:

How is that done? I should add that my scene is lit with a simple skydome, with the sun turned off and the camera visibility set to zero to make the background black.

Bloom is applied to pixels based on pixel intensity. It's not a per-object effect

would be nice to have a override on a set or something for certain objects only.
