Edit multiple lights at once?

I'm sure there's an easy solution to this, but I haven't found it...

I want to select a bunch of lights and change their intensity all in one edit. I tried selecting them all and then doing it with the Attribute Editor, but the intensity didn't show up as an attribute in the list. How do I do it?

Thanks!

The only way to edit multiple lights at once is to create your own light lister (like the one in max) through mel script. It's really not that hard, plus the big bonus is that you can add other attributes besides intensity. Attached is an example of a custom light lister.

Ok, thanks for the info. I've used the light lister in Max and I just assumed that Maya would have something similar. I don't know MEL scripting so I guess I'll just have to edit them one by one until I get some time to learn MEL.

Maya actually has a thing called the Attribute Spread Sheet (windows>general). Select as many lights objects whatever, and voila see all attributes that can be edited.

Well would you look at that there is a way. Nice to know. The intensity attribute is under the shape keyable tab. If you don't see the tab then click the left or right arrows in the top right hand corner of the dialog box and it should appear.

I know this is a very old thread, but I found it when searching for a way to do this is 3ds max. Maybe it will help someone?

In maya, it is VERY easy. Select all your lights, go to the channel box (not the attribute editor), change the intensity value of whatever light is showing in the channel box and it will change the value for ALL lights. It only works through the channel box and not the Attribute editor. Furthermore, it works this way for all variables (visibility, transforms, etc).

Cheers!

Hi!

Here it is what didi it for me:

- select your lights in outline

- navigate to Windows/General Editors/Attribute Spread Sheet

- once in it, at the top left there is an Attribute Filter

- choose your parameter and be happy!

Hope this helps others too!
