Cannot import any texture file to my project in Maya 2019, please help.

Hi,

I have recently started to work on a project I imported from Lightwave to Maya.
While I was working I want to insert a simple jpeg file to one of the object so I can work on it and all I cloud see is the color of the texture and not the texture itself.
I have been doing this same procedure for a couple of projects now but it appears that no matter what I do, it does not work at all.
Tried to go over some tips and assistance on Maya knowledge, Youtube and other forums on Google without any success to this issue.
Even tried to export all the objects to a new project and it did not help either.

For Screenshot from Maya and the project file, here:

Please help me with this.

Thanks!

keyboard.jpgYou don't have any Uvs for some of these objects, you should have checked before starting a project.

I would also recommend cleaning up your history and cleaning up your Outliner Dag history to keep the scene in order and clean.

You also have duplicate objects sitting on top of each other. This scene is very poorly assembled, I advise in taking a Maya course online so you can get up to speed and not run into basic issues.

I'm at the End of an almost 2 year 3D modeling and Animation course, I guess mistakes can happen from time to time 🙂

I understand what you said, this project was imported from Lightwave and maybe this is one of many reasons why it causes many issues and poorly organized...

I will take notes of what you wrote here and remember it for next time.

Thanks for the advice!

That's good to hear Ori, you will learn much faster from proper training, just organize your file and UV map the necessary geo for texturing.

Good luck.
