OK Guys,

We're looking for a Maya solution to match our camera to our plates. We use mostly stills for background, but we need to match our camera to the plate. Is there any working solution? There was a script called SanctusMatchCamera, but it doesn't really work. A friend of mine complained about SlibMatch that it wouldn't work with his DSLR recorded images, so I'm pretty much surprised, that this is not solved

If you know the Angle of view, and lens distortion can be ignored, you can do it manually. You should find parallel lines, right angles, or same size object with different depth, create lines, cubes or objects put them to the right position and try put the camera to the right position. I think most plug-in is bass on the same theory.

There is a similar function in 3ds max.

Or maybe others can give you more suggestion.

For me it looks like trial and error 🙂 Yeah, Max has this tool, and it's an easy tool. I found some script on Highend3D (or creative crash nowadays), it worked sometimes
