Arnold won't render surface textures

Hello All,

I have created a texture for an eyeball using 2 aiStandardSurface linked to a BlendColors node, but when I try to render it in Arnold, it shows up as a black sphere on a white background (I have a skydome and area light in the scene). Also, a warning shows up that says, "Warning: [mtoa] Could not link aiStandardSurface1 to blendColors2.input1."

Any ideas would be appreciated!

Thanks,

Josiah

Standard Surface doesn't return a color, so you cannot use a node like BlendColors.

You can use Mix Shaders with Standard Surface

or blend the textures first and then plug into standard surface

That's an old tutorial, using an older Arnold.

It uses aiStandard, not aiStandardSurface.

In Arnold 5, Standard Surface replaced the old Standard shader

Thanks!

Hello,

I have the same problem. Did you solve it? If yes, how? Can you tell me?

Sorry, It didn't work at first because of some of my mistakes. 😅😅 I tried again and succeeded.😀 Thank you.
