arnold rendering targa texture issues

Hi! im new to arnold, and i have this one problem that i just cannot figure out. I am currently trying to render an image of this creature i exported from a game called spore, using arnold. However, i just cannot get it to render the textures of the creature correctly, which are .tga files. i checked the textures and they dont seem to have any errors?

Im using arnold core 5.0.1.0 and maya 2018

They are fine in the viewport, but not in the final render. Im just using a default skydome. It seems to render some minor details fine, but not the rest of the model. The weird thing is that these models, when converted, come with .tx files. But those just turn my creature 90% trasparent. this is the same for all models exported from spore.

Because of this, exporting the textures to png or jpeg just makes the creature white, and doesnt help. i suspect the textures have some sort of node setting or something, but i have barely tinkered with hypershade before, and therefore im currently stuck with this issue. I have attached the scene in case anyone needs it. i really hope someone can help me figure this out, thank you 🙂

Hi!

Remove the Alpha Channel from your Targa files, then it works correct.

Well after figuring out HOW to do that, i found progress..but the model is still very shiny, and is still white in some places. The thigh armor is suppose to be all black.

Hi!

Just edit the Attributes of the material and the textures further until you are satisfied.

If you want to use Arnold for final output i suggest to change the Phong material to an Arnold material.
