The issue:
When I choose "render Sequence" with GPU rendering enabled, it instantly aborts the render with the error message quoted below. This has occurred over many many scenes of different origins.
# [mtoa] Rendering Frame: 15 (1/1) Camera: renderCam_DOF_1360x2000Shape Layer: Colour
# G:/Roxley/Maya_Santorini/images/Colour/Beauty_rendersHR_1_0015.png
# Warning: WARNING | [gpu] multiple GPU render sessions in parallel not supported
# Warning: WARNING | [gpu] multiple GPU render sessions in parallel not supported
# Error: line 1: RuntimeError: file <string> line 2: Maya command error
Sequence rendering aborted
Oddities I have observed:
- When I create a fresh scene and attempt to render sequence with GPU enabled, it works for a while. At some point the scene seems to realize this multiple GPU thing is an issue and starts to throw that error and abort renders. Once this has happened, the scene file seems to be fully corrupt, and will never GPU render sequence ever again.
- GPU renders work fine in arnold render view. Just not in render sequence. (yes I have ensured arnold render view is closed and stopped before rendering a sequence)
- CPU Render sequence works completely without issue.
- Based on how this suddenly appears, this issue feels very much like a bug.
My GPU Hardware:
- Geforce RTX 3080 Ti (just one card, no dual card setup)
- Ryzen 9 5900x Processor
- RAM - 64.0 GB
What I have tried (with no fix):
- I have constantly been updating arnold and my video card drivers (fail).
- Full reboot machine. Launch maya fresh attempt render (fail).
- Disable texture preview and GPU based effects in viewport (fail).
- Ensure all other instances of maya and every arnold render view has been closed (fail).
- Start a fresh scene and import my old scenes into it (fail).
I have been following these forums for a year and can see that others have this issue but I have not found any resolution. Please help, thank you!
