Hey guys,

See when Maya starts up, is there a way to keep the program in the background until it has fully loaded? So say I'm using photoshop, or illustrator and i startup maya, the interface continues to jump forward / overlay what i'm working on so I have to sit and wait for Maya to fully load until i can minimise it.

I would love that too, if the program hasn't finished loading why would I want it to take focus, I can't use it yet. I was also wondering is there a way in the userSetup file to start a loading screen script job and then when the final thing loads whatever that is close the loading screen. Is there any event we could capture that knows when Maya has finished loading?

I'm not sure to understand precisely what you're looking for but there's a command which will execute once a specified function when Maya is in a idle state. Which basically means in that case, when Maya has finished to loading

please have a look at evalDeferred

I'd like to show a pop up window when Maya starts and when it's finished loaidng for real I'd like to close the pop up window. Wouldn't evalDeffered close the window too early?

ok, I got it.
EvalDeffered won't help for that. Franckly, I'm not sure that you could go that deep into the maya architecture to do such things. It's about hacking, I guess ...

Thanks, yeah I was hoping we could figure out what the last event was when Maya finished loading a right a script job to catch it and then print the message "Loading Finished" or something.
