Python Error: "keyword can't be an expression"

I'm creating an intSliderGrp and also following a tutorial and they guy uses cubW = before cmds.intSliderGrp command. He's using Maya 2014 so i'm assuming it's updated since then so how would I go about this?

I'm trying to add the value of an polyExtrude command instead of his cube depth but here's the tutorial if it helps.
