My screen is black from every view (Maya 2011)

Hi!  I purchased Maya 2011 a while ago and want to use it on my new laptop however, the screen is black from all views.  When I got this laptop, I made sure that it had all of the system requirements for Maya 2018 because I thought they would be the same as the 2011 version but when I look it up, I see that there are some differences.  I am attaching an image of how the screen looks and if it helps, I have also included the specs to my computer below:

Processor & Memory:

  • Intel® Core™ i7-7700HQ Processor 2.8GHz
  • 16GB DDR4 (2-DIMM) RAM

Operating System:

  • Microsoft® Windows 10

Drives:

  • 256GB PCle Solid State Drive
  • No Optical Drive

Graphics & Video:

  • 15.6" Anti-glare LED Backlit FHD (1920 x 1080) Display
  • 6GB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 Graphics

Communications:

  • 802.11 Wireless-AC + Bluetooth® 4.1
  • 100/1000M Gigabit Ethernet (RJ-45 Connector)
  • Integrated 720p Webcam

Not to be discouraging but Maya 2011 may not work on modern hardware.

Do you know if it would help if I got a new graphics card and downloaded Windows 7?

You should consider Maya 2011 to be too old to work reliably. If somebody other than Autodesk sold it to you recently then they were being dishonest.

Are you a student? Then use the latest learning addition.

Otherwise you should consider finding a computer from 2011 that matches the Autodesk specs? Or tinker with things to get it working.

Good luck
