Maya 2018 not opening files for no reason

Hi,

I use maya for my schooling because I'm in an animation class. My professor posts our projects online and we are supposed to download the files and work on it at home. This used to be no problem for me, but for the past couple weeks no files are being able to be opened. Even files that I have previously used. It just opens up and freezes. I can't even close it and am forced to do it through task manager.This is the frozen screen I get

This is the error code that appears in my output window:

IMF plugin path invalid:C:/Program Files/NVIDIA Corporation/mentalray 3.14 for Maya 2018/bin/image/

I need a solution to the whole problem and not just a quick fix to opening a singular file. Please help!!

Hi!

Try Import... instead of Open Scene....

Files for Maya 2018 should not contain any Mental Ray content.

You also should not install Mental Ray for Maya 2018 as the plug-in may not work correct with the Maya version you use.

Please upload one scene-file.
