i download maya student 2016

but i got this

environment variable maya_alt_en is not set

and it will not start 

i am on a mac os sierra

Maya 2016 is not fully compatible with Mac OSX Sierra, as indicated in the system requirements. You may try downloading and installing Maya 2017 instead. For your reference, here's a post having a similar issue as yours: MacOS Sierra Maya 2016: License not obtained Error 20

i am on version 10.12.2

maya 2017 crashes on startup
