Hi,
I am planning to buy a laptop to run maya. I will hopefully use it to work focusing on animation only. I will not use it for rendering.
I do have the gist of the spec I want.
Processor i7-9750H
RAM 16Gb
Storage 1Tb M.2 SSD or 512Gb M.2 SSD + 1Tb SATA
However, I am very undecided about GPU.
I'm planning to either get RTX 2060 or GTX 1660 Ti.
I'm aware that there is a certified hardware list by maya but I did not see GTX 1660 Ti in it, and I'm not sure whether the RTX 2060 listed is the mobile (laptop) version or desktop.
Looking up the performace between the two (both laptop versions), there only seems to be 5-10% performance difference for "gaming", yet $200 price tag difference (at least where I live).
I'm probably not going to use my laptop for gaming, so I'm not sure whether the feature on RTX series will actually be useful, or worth the money to invest, if I'm going to hopefully use the laptop for the next 3 years.
To be more specific, my current options are between
MSI GL73 8SD
or
ASUS Rog Strix Scar III G731G-VEV057T
Suggestions are much appreciated!
