XGen Interactive Splines keep appearing on the inside of the model

I'm new to using xGen. I've tried adding hair to a character, but the interactive splines are appearing on the inside of the model, not the outside. I've created a sphere in the same document, and it works perfectly.

I have cleaned up the mesh, cleared its history, checked its face normals, installed then uninstalled xGen, etc and nothing is working. I have checked various internet forums, and no one has a solution for this.

I have split the character in have to better show off the problem. Can anyone help me?

Hi!

What happens if you reverse the normals?

When I reverse the normals, the splines appear on the outside of the body, as it should.

Hi!

Then I recommend to work with the normals reversed (if possible).

For further troubleshooting a scene-file would be required.

But when the normals are reversed, the material attributes don't show. Ive tried reversing the normals of the scalp, but it is very obvious and unappealing.

Hi!

Based on the used material and settings this may not work for you, but you could use a hidden mesh for the hair and a duplicate for rendering.

I'll definitely try doing that. Or simply redo the scalp, and keep the topology more simple.

Hi!

Using different meshes for hair and rendering should work.

Again:

Ive deleted the original scalp and replaced it with a new sphere. Then merged that sphere with the original character model. It's holding up well.
