I'm having an issue when referencing a model with Xgen interactive grooming.
When I move or rotate this referenced model all looks good but when I save it and read it back in the sculpt on the groom is completely messed up.
If I move the reference model back to its original position and rotation and save it and then read it back in it all looks good again.
The issue feels like a double transform on the groom sculpt. This only happens when I reference the model. Not when I just load the model.
Any suggestions would be super helpful. Thanks

Does reloading the reference make any difference?
Thanks for the suggestion. I tried reloading the reference file but the issue remains. It has something to do with the reference object not in its original place when it loads. If you animate the reference object from its origin at frame 0 to a new position at frame 10. If you save your scene while being at frame 0 and read the scene back in the groom looks good. If you save your scene at any other frame and when you read the scene back in the groom has changed.
I also tried it with a simple interactive groom on a basic primative and the same thing happens so I assume it's not scene specific. Have you tried this?
In this case just save on frame zero.
I fear a fix for that issue will take some time. Make sure to report the bug
Thanks for getting back to me. Are you from Autodesk?
Would be a bit difficult to tell the animators never to save on another frame but frame zero. That is not how an animation pipeline works. It's a huge bug and I spoke to someone online who reported it a couple of years ago. Can you tell me if this is a known bug? According my Google search results it should be.
Im not an Autodesk employee.
Bugs gets closed if they dont get reported that often. Report it twice to make sure the priority gets up.
Same bug. Looks like there is no more issues when you give the reference an offset group to apply trans/rot/scale on. So I guess rigging your model in your reference scene and then move controllers instead of the geo may be a solution. Very annoying tho.
