XGen density mask isn't getting rid of all hairs

Hi I've created a density mask for my xgen hair but when I've painted in the areas black that I want the hairs removed as a test there are still some hairs left when it should be getting rid of them all.

Render's same:

Any ideas? I've tried increasing resolution of mask map to 2k but no change.

Thanks

Never mind, found solution by using the brush without feather got rid of it, strange though.

was trying to find a solution for the same thing... 3 years have passed now but I figured out that starting from a black density mask and then paint in white solves the issue (the problem seems to be that the border retain white vertex color info though you can't erase it)
