welding vertices in uvw wrapping

Hi, I want to weld the 2 vertices on the left, without welding the one on the right.

I know you can do this with 3dsmax target weld, but for the love of god, I can't find anything similar in Maya.

I hope this is not too much of a noob question.

There's a threshold option box in the merge vertex tool, that's what you need to adjust for welding distance , that's very simple, try that.
