UV Editor running VERY slowly!

For some reason it is taking forever for Maya to move, scale, and rotate components in the UV editor. There are only about 70k tris in my scene, and most of them are hidden. What's stange is when I first started unwrapping earlier today the UV editor ran fine, but now it's just extremely laggy and my scene hasn't gotten any more complex (as far as I know). Working in the 3D space is very smooth as always, it's just the UV Editor that's giving me problems.

Has anyone else had a problem like this? What could it possibly be from? And what can I do to fix it? Maya seems very unstable like this and I'm saving new iterations constantly!!!

Yes, you can't let history pile up, it's all more Maya calculation, always delete history and freeze transforms.
