Unable to Display Hidden objects - Have tried everything!

Hello there,

I hid multiple objects and have tried to unhide using Shift + H. This worked for the last hidden object(the pink objects in the screenshot) but the remaining 4/5 objects are still hidden. I have tried to ressurect them by repeatedly pressing Shift + H, going to the display panel, going to the outliner and pressing Shift +H...and they won't come back 😞

They are still showing in my outliner as pCube1, pCube5 etc. but they remain invisible in the main view apart from the marker tool.

Any ideas would be great?

(in the screenshot I show where I can select the objects in Outliner but only the marker is shown in the main view)

Thanks,

I found there isn't any shape node under pCube5. So I guess if you delete shape node or move it to other place.

Find shape node first.

Hi Tony,

Thanks for replying.

I don't understand what you mean by shape node, by finding or deleting.

I looked up the official definition and still not clear on what is means.

Also, when I re-opened Maya this morning when I click on the node pCube5 there is no marker now. So I am doubly confused!

Is pCube just an X, Y, Z co-ordinate (transform1) with no component now?

Thanks,

Sinead

When you create a object, you create a transform node and a shape node. Transform node contains an object’s transformation attributes, and shape node contains all other attributes ( points, faces..... )

http://help.autodesk.com/view/MAYAUL/2018/ENU/?guid=GUID-21B83FF0-0435-4087-8C2E-23B420028B71

Transform node

A node that contains an object’s transformation attributes—values for its translation, rotation, scale, and so on. It also holds information on parent-child relationships it has with other nodes. InnerSolarSystem, Sun, Moon, and all other boxes shown in the example are transform nodes.

Shape nodes

Holds an object’s geometry attributes or attributes other than the object’s transform node attributes. A shape node is the child of a transform node. A transform node has only one shape node.

But I found what you select, just two transform nodes. There isn't any point or face or object information in it. So you couldn't "show" it. It's just a empty group.

Hi Tony,

Thanks for your detailed reply.

The pCubeShape1 still exists in History though?

pCubeShape5 is still in AttributespCubeShape5 is still in Attributes

Overall I am confused how all the shapes that I hid have now disappeared and hold no information.

Could I share my scene file with you please?

Sinead
