Transfer Maps

If I transfer a map from a high poly to low poly (just testing on a simple cube) then I have two things I do not really understand:

1. The cube has dark sides when I rotate and its on default lighting. If I change the color space from srgb on the bump map to raw it fixes the issue?

2. After transfer (which works fine) If I choose either the color or bump connector to the file I get the error:

/ Error: file: /Applications/Autodesk/maya2018/Maya.app/Contents/scripts/AETemplates/AEfileTemplate.mel line 638: Object 'textureUvTilingGeneratePreviewButton' not found.

I have no placement node which I why I have the error so I can only 'guess' that transfer map is not generating it.

thank you

Use high quality render instead of viewport 2

thanks for the reply.

Not sure that fixes the issue or just hides it. (Kudo given)

I am trying to understand why it looks like it does and also why I get the error message after transfer maps

thanks again

Hi!

Please upload a scene-file.

Attached. The color issue is caused by the normal map. I guess it is correct that the normal map changes the lighting on the object?

thank you

A bit outdated but since nobody ever replied.. lets bump some old threads...

you can try to run the command 'ogs -reset' (MEL) to see if the shading issues disappear.

about 'textureUvTilingGeneratePreviewButton'... love that one (not really) ..

I can't tell you why it happens.. but for me it seems to be always the case when I have 'something' loaded in the hypershade-node-editor.

Clearing the hypershade editor... save the file.. restart maya sorted this out so far..

... your scene didn't had anything in the hypershade graph loaded (neither I got any errors in your scene),

but it would be interesting to know if the problematic file of yours does either have nodes laoded in the hypershade graph or the nodeeditor graph.

Thank you for the reply. Honestly I just live with it and overall it does not cause me so many issues. Maybe fixed in future releases - thank you again (like given).
