Hi there. I am creating a stadium scene. I want to recycle the same 20 people models and repeat them throughout the stadium. I had to search for help in this automating the scattering of people.
I found this one site Scattering an Object Across another Object's Surface - Simply Maya User Community
but this is from 2005 and seems very clunky/workaround style.
I would have thought that this kind of feature was needed commonly, and it seems to me logical that there will be an easier way to scatter the people.
Overall what I'd like ideally is to select any number of Faces, together with specifying any number of models to be used in the scattering process, and have Maya just scatter them aligning them with the surface of the face (and keeping them in the bounds of that face).
Is this currently a feature in Maya? if not, can it be achieved with scripting? Or is the link above still the recommended solution to achieve the scatter? (if the final one is the case, i think i would actually prefer to code in my game engine to place all the people instead)
