If I try to rotate an object there is no rotation-globe and the workplace change is a greyer color. It is similar in Maya 2016 and 2017 (Mac).

Sounds like a graphics card issue.

You could try switching your Display Preferences > Rendering Engine to Direct X or setting the Viewport > Renderer to Legacy Default Viewport.

Oh. I use a Mac Pro 17 (2011). The performanc is still ok but this series had some grafic problems. I have noticed that SketchUp spontan crashes in the last weeks. I will try to install Maya on an other Mac.

ok. I found out that MAYA LT works how expected incl. rotate-tool. But some functions and especially modify-tools of the "regular" MAYA are not intact. Some manipulators are not complete shown (missing arrows). Only the universal-manipulator works normal. It is similar in 2016 and 2017. Can be there a problem in MAYA-preferences?

Sadly MAYA LT is not working for what I want to do because I try to use it for architectural visualization.

In the 3D viewport did you try clicking on the Renderer menu item and setting it to "Legacy Default Viewport"?

oh, There is an error massage: "current rendering engine does not support Legacy Viewport". Viewport 2.0 is preselected. In MAYA LT it is "Legacy Default Viewport".

Can it help to reinstall MAYA?

No, I do not think re-installing Maya will help as it still seems like a graphics driver issue.

Look in Preferences > Display > Rendering Engine and try one of the options in that menu.

If that doesn't work then your hardware may not be compatible with the version of Maya you are trying to run:

I think the problems are the System confuguration of my MBP 17 2011. But Maya LT 2017 Runs Corect. It is not easy to understand.

Hi!

If Maya LT 2017 works and Maya 2017 not, i would try a reset of the preferences.

Rename the folder prefs in folder 2017 to something like prefs_backup, or to reset everything, the folder 2017 to 2017_backup. Maya creates new folders. Detailed at:

Something similar happened to me on Windows. It turned out that the letter E for rotate had removed itself from my custom hotkeys. Try Settings > Settings preferences > hotkey editor. Find rotate and re-assign E as a hotkey.
