Problem Selecting All Faces On One Side

Hello, I am basically completely new to Maya, although I have done my research on this topic.

I am currently trying to select all faces on one side of this cylinder. I read through the Face loop tutorial, with selecting adjacent/non-adjacent faces and that is what I thought I had done, but apparently not.

Hello!

Look at your cylinder from the side, and drag-select the faces on te cap. It will select the cap AND the faces around the cylinder, but not the other side. Then shift + drag only on the edges of the side of the cylinder, it wil toggle the selection of those faces and you'll have only the cap left selected.
