Make sure you are not creating more than one uv map, in the uv editor top bar Textures> uv map 1 should be the only one , also make sure in your lambert nothing is connected to transparency and turn file texture filter to off, lets us know if it helped any .

Always use a new shader, avoid working with default Lambert 1....See if this helps...

Also the display filtering is only for the viewport, not for the final render.

You are not deleting history u94, you have to delete history all the time, specially when doing UVs and freeze transformations, there's nothing wrong with the file other than that, the texture I made is tiny too 256.

And your image is 16 not 256 you must have made a mistake, 16 will never work its smaller than a Maya Icon...its gotta be a mistake.make it 256 in size inphotoshop.

Yes, unless you have rigged characters or deformers then you have use Delete non deformer History....you don't have anything like that.

Redo your texture in photoshop 256X256 and don't make image blurred, make the color lines straight solid colors, no blur on image.

Unfortunately, Maya crashed in UV mapping. Is Maya 2016 not stable verison.

My system specification:

AMD FX-6300 3.5GHz processor

AMD Radeon R7 260x 2GB video card

8GB RAM

Windows 7 64bit

Make sure your AMD card is up to date , 8 gb of ram is kind of low , Maya needs a lot to run properly, just make sure you work in a Maya . ma file and not . mb file and use incremental save just in case.

maya should save a crash file in your Temp folder.
