Hi all,

I've been a maya user for a while but for the past couple of years i've been working in cinema 4d for work purposes and in cinema you can setup a subdivision surface modifier place all the parts of a mesh below in a group and then can toggle between subD and non SubD. Basically its a none destructive workflow I've gotten use to.

I've been trying to figure out a way to have something similar in maya but failing thus far. So my question is would anyone know if this is possible to toggle smoothpoly without it being applied to the actual mesh?

(i know that i can press 3 on the keyboard and smooth like that but i'm using maya and v-ray and doesn't seem to work doing that)

you just need to enable it in the render settings (globally)

https://docs.chaos.com/display/VMAYA/Geometry+Overrides

or in the mesh attributes
