Poly Reduce and Poly Separate Slow Down Rig/Skinning Transforms

When I try to apply any mesh editing to my character mesh, it seems to severely slow down maya when I want to move my rig at all. This can be really annoying when testing skinning, and I want to know if there is a way to stop this lag.

The attached "SupportVidOne" shows how my rig moves my mesh instantly when there is very little done with mesh editing. "SupportVidTwo" shows how painfully slow even a simple head turn can be after a 50% PolyReduce. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to fix this.

Hi!

Poly Reduce is part of your history, so it will be evaluated for every change you make.

Remove it from history (it's not a good idea to have history on a character other than skinning).

So how do I remove the poly reduce from the history without undoing the
poly reduce? I just want to apply it and make it permanent, but every time
I delete history on the object I lose my skinning, and all the
modifications that I have made to the mesh.

Sorry if this is a simple question. I'm new to Maya and the forums haven't
been very explicit.

Hi!

Try delete Non-Deformer History.

Please read the Maya Online Help / Documentation for more details.
