Objects breaking / disappearing when opening save

Hi, this'll be my first post here.

The problem I'm running into is that whenever I save a scene with some objects in it and go to reload it at a later time, one or more objects will either be broken or just completely gone (not from the outliner, though). When I say broken, think about the entire object being gone save for a few faces (which sometimes don't even match what the object looked like before).

Here's some extra details:

I'm running into this issue using Maya 2020, it seems to happen in multiple scenes.

I've tried:

Reloading, obviously to no avail.

Exporting the objects as OBJ., to no avail.

Placing all objects in my outliner in an entirely new scene (as OBJ.), it happened again upon reloading.

Messing around with .MA and .MB saves, no use.

Resetting my Maya prefs, this didn't help either.

I looked around a little and found some issues that are somewhat up this alley, but the solutions there were not applicable to this situation I'm having (issues regarding layers for example).

Same thing has been happening to me for a few weeks now, lost 2 high poly models and about 8 hours work in total. I've included a screenshot below of the latest model that Maya has destroyed.

So far I've read that its because I didn't delete history before saving...So it now seems that the history feature is there for the sole purpose of making sure you remember to delete it otherwise it will destroy your model.

All the advice I have received so far is delete your history before saving and use incremental saves and save an .ma and .mb...a hell of a lot of work just to be able to load a model you've worked on.

Bottom line is this has been happening with Maya for years now. They will not fix it. My advice now is to do what the rest of the world is doing and bite the bullet and make the leap to Blender.

Same thing here, using Maya 2024, this is ridiculous Autodesk... Are you selling a cheap product for a premium price ?
