Maya subdivides objects in odd spiral pattern after resizing them in face mode

As the title says, when I try to change the subdivisions axis, height or depth of an object it subdivides unevenly and often makes spiral patterns and I don't know what setting I have on or what is even causing this but I'd honestly like it to stop.Sphere subdivisions axis 10.PNG

Hi!

As soon as you use any non-procedural edit for a poly primitive, you should not change the subdivision values in the edit node anymore, as this will lead to an unexpected result.

Adding some further explanation.

When you select and modify selected components Maya uses the component's index to keep track of what was modified.

So in your case Maya is remembering that you scaled faces 0..100. However, when you change the primitive node that occurs before the scale operation the faces get renumbered. So you are still scaling faces 0..100 but now those faces are randomly scattered over the new (higher-resolution) object.
