Maya 2019.2 UV Editor Crashing

Process: I select multiple meshes within my scene, I open the UV Editor, I begin to move around UV shells and I get an insta-crash and no crash logs...

Solution: ???

I suggest:

until you fix the bug in your UVs use Legacy default view port ,you might haven't Legacy default view port

in the render drop down you can bring it back buy adding this line

MAYA_ENABLE_LEGACY_VIEWPORT=1

to the end of  Maya.env file in you

document/maya/20XX/Maya.env

that way maya view port doesn't show any UV cut lines in the view port I think it is the cause to the crash .

I had that problem and I solved that way ,I hope that helps you to solve the problem 🤍

I sort-of managed to reproduce this on a couple of scenes.  I say sort-of because I can't figure out any concrete steps to guarantee it will happen.  I open the UV Editor and move around UV shells, like you said.  But it doesn't crash right away.  So I just do random combinations of select and move until it happens.  Select, move, select, select, move, select, move, move, move, select, select, etc.  I've tried selecting and moving both individual shells and multiple shells.  I *think* it is crashing when I have multiple shells selected, but I'm not 100% sure.  Because it takes hundreds of selects and moves before it finally crashes.

The good news is, out of the six times I've gotten it to crash, one of them actually produced a crash log.  It is attached to this message.

Question: Does your scene have any animation in it?  Joint animation, vertex animation, scrolling textures, or anything else?  I ask because the scenes I have gotten it to crash on contain vertex animation.  But I only tried one scene without animation, and I didn't try for very long on that scene.

Been having this exact issue, making my current scene un-workable. I'm trying to switch to Maya 2018 to see if that will fix it. I've tried exporting the objects as obj, uninstalling/reinstalling maya 2019.2 nothing worked.

Don't forget to frequently Delete History, while editing UV's.!
