Maya 2013 is not selecting all vertices when I marquee select them.

Aloha,

This is driving me nuts! Please help if you can ๐Ÿ™‚

As an example: lets say I marquee select the vertices on a cube in an orthographic view (top view or side view) only the vertices facing the camera get selected. And to clarify, CAMERA BASED SELECTION IS TURNED OFF. Also, not sure if it is related, but backface culling in preferences is also turned off. This usually will not happen in perspective view; but yesterday it did start happening in perspective view as well. And even more strange, it does not affect all meshes in the scene. Only some will react this way.

This bug only recently started happening and it is driving me nuts. I have been running 2013 on this machine since it was released, but not until recently did this bug start to occur; so I am wondering if I accidentally turned something on/off? IS it Maya or maybe a hardware issue?

If anyone has experienced this I would love to know what I might have done to resolve it.

Thanks in advance for any help offered.

This can sometimes happen when your model is too large to fit within the orthographic cameras' current locations. So, for example, if it is the front view that's not selecting everything you'd expect, then select the front camera and turn on "visibility" in it's Transform node AND it's Shape node. Now you can see it in the viewports and you'll probably notice that it is sitting inside your model. It needs to be moved out away from the model. In the case of the front camera, its translate Z needs to increase.

Had a problem similar to this one in 2017. Ended up working if i switch from view port 2.0 to a legacy one.
