[MASH] mesh distribution not working

Hi,

I'm trying to do a simple scatter of a mesh on a surface using MASH. Ideally want to use the world node, but even the simple mesh distribution node doesn't work.

What I do:

1- create a plane
2- create a sphere
3- select the sphere and create a MASH network
4 - On the MASH distribute tab I set the distribution type to mesh

5 - assign my plane to the input mesh.

6- Nothing happens

I'm using maya 2018.3

Thanks!

Hey there,

make sure that your plane isn't smaller than your sphere,

if it possible to share a screenshot so I can help more

Here's a test file that works perfect, please open it and if it doesn't look right maybe it's an issue in Maya or a bug, btw m using Maya 2018 on windows 10

Yup,

your scene works fine, but I don't get it.

When I start from your mesh, delete the MASH node and rebuild it I can make it work no problem, but if I start with a mesh I created it just doesn't work.

See attached file.

thanks!

Hey there,

After seeing your file it seems like its a bug in Maya,

this happens because of unit size,

you are using meter as a unit size and MASH don't like it this way,

just use cm as a unit in your setting and everything will be fixed and work fine.

Welcome.

yeah that's it, it's annoying since our project is in meter, but will deal with it and submit a bug report.

Thanks!
